87 Academy is the educational branch of Salon 87 Brooklyn, founded by Hiro and Mari Watase. Built on the salon’s philosophy of artistry, inclusivity, and technical excellence, the academy is a dedicated space for cultivating the next generation of hair professionals. Under the guidance of Kazuma Kurata, students learn the craft through rigorous, hands-on training rooted in both Japanese precision and global fashion sensibilities.

In Japan, I worked with a wide range of clients—from everyday customers to celebrities and artists—regardless of age, gender, or background.
At the time, my return rate was over 80% between the first and second visit, and over 90% from the third visit onward.
I conducted over 10 seminars and workshops annually, with a strong focus on education.
Additionally, I was involved in wig production and on-set styling for promotional videos, music videos, and films.
Currently, I am in New York to open my own hair salon and have joined Salon87.

Enrolled at Toyo Barber and Beauty College. Obtained dual licenses in cosmetology and barbering.2018
Entered SASSOON ACADEMY to study internationally recognized techniques and theory.2019
Opened GENUINE Minami Aoyama.2021
Received the “KAMI CHARISMA Award” in both the Individual and Salon categories.2023
Independently opened a haircut-specialty salon.Obtained an O-1 visa and joined Salon87.
